The Visionaries, Leaders &
Master Cordwainers
At MLAZ Limited, footwear is not an anonymous factory product. Behind every sculptured last, hand-cut hide, and hand-dyed patina is a devoted guild of Nigerian artisans, executive leaders, and concierge specialists dedicated to a single creed:

"Footwear is not mere utility; it is the foundation of human posture, confidence, and stride. At MLAZ Limited, our calling is to prove that Nigerian hands and heritage leather can produce footwear that commands respect in every boardroom and capital on earth."
Raised with a profound appreciation for Northern Nigeria's historic tanning centers in Zaria and Kano, Musa established MLAZ Limited to resurrect true artisanal cordwaining in Nigeria. Having apprenticed under venerable master shoemakers and studied European Goodyear-welt engineering, he personally oversees last architecture, pattern balance, and bespoke patron commissions at our Kubwa Workshop.
Under his stewardship, MLAZ Limited has evolved from a bespoke local cordwaining workshop into an acclaimed Nigerian footwear institution serving dignitaries, executives, and discerning patrons nationwide.

From senior executives steering operational governance to master clickers and patina artists hand-dyeing crust leather at the bench.

"Zero shortcuts. Every single pair that departs our Kubwa workshop must pass 32 individual quality inspection points before it is placed into a client's hands."
With an extensive background in luxury production management and industrial supply chain integrity, Aliyu orchestrates the day-to-day operations of the MLAZ Workshop. He governs certified hide procurement from traditional Nigerian and European tanneries, workshop safety standards, and flawless nationwide delivery dispatch.
"Bespoke is a deeply intimate journey. We listen to the patron's gait, lifestyle, and aesthetic sensibilities to create a silhouette that feels like a natural extension of their being."
Zainab translates client dreams into tangible footwear masterpieces. She oversees our 10-step bespoke wizard intake, private VIP styling consultations, bridal commissions, and bespoke foot measurement mappings, delivering a personalized concierge experience second to none.
"Our mission is to establish sustainable African artisan economies where master craftsmen are dignified and compensated justly for their exceptional talent."
Emeka oversees commercial strategy, retail partnerships, and our expanding Sales Ambassador consignment network spanning Abuja, Lagos, Kano, and Port Harcourt. His disciplined financial governance ensures prompt artisan compensation and seamless client settlement.
"The leather tells you where it wants to be cut. If you force a hide against its natural grain, the shoe will never hold its composure."
A legendary artisan in Northern Nigerian cordwaining with 16 years of hands-on mastery. Garba inspects every incoming hide for grain density, tensile strength, and natural scarring before hand-clicking each upper component with razor-sharp surgical clicking blades.
"A Goodyear welt is a promise of longevity. It means when the sole wears down in ten years, we can rebuild it better than the day it was born."
Tunde oversees bottom-stock construction at the workshop. Utilizing pitch-waxed flax thread, hand-carved leather welts, and granulated Portuguese cork footbeds, he builds shoes engineered to mold to the patron's foot structure over hundreds of miles.
"Every hide absorbs dye differently. Creating a patina is like painting a sunrise — it requires gentle layering, patience, and reverence for light."
Trained in classical European crust-finishing techniques, Amina transforms undyed raw calfskin into museum-grade showpieces. Using natural spirit dyes, conditioning balms, and champagne-water toe mirror-glazes, she produces MLAZ's signature Cognac, Midnight, and Emerald patinas.
"Throwing away fine leather shoes is a tragedy. With skilled hands, fresh oak-bark soles, and deep conditioning, we bring 10-year-old shoes back to runway glory."
Sunday heads the MLAZ Repair & Restoration Clinic. Specializing in complete teardowns, welt repairs, stacked leather heel rebuilding, and patina restoration, he ensures every patron's footwear remains an enduring lifetime companion.
"From the moment you message our concierge to the moment your custom shoebox arrives, our goal is to make you feel like royalty."
Farida is the dedicated point of contact for private bespoke inquiries, WhatsApp consultations, and showroom fittings. She tracks order progression through the workshop and sends patrons behind-the-scenes photography as their shoes take shape.
The Code of the Cordwainer: How Our Team Works
Unlike industrial shoe factories driven by automated assembly times, every team member at MLAZ operates under four inviolable principles.
Human Hands Over Machines
We strictly reject computerized mass-glue assembly lines. Every hide is inspected by touch, every pattern hand-clicked, and every sole channel hand-stitched.
Sovereign African Luxury
We celebrate Nigeria’s legendary leather heritage in Zaria and Kano, proving to the world that African cordwainers produce footwear that equals Europe’s finest workshops.
Apprenticeship & Dignity
We invest heavily in training the next generation of young Nigerian leather artisans, paying dignified fair wages and upholding lifelong craft mastery.
Lifetime Resoleability
Our repair cordwainers stand behind every pair we build. When your soles eventually wear down after years of dedicated use, our team rebuilds them to last decades more.
Are You a Passionate Cordwainer or Leather Artisan?
We are constantly seeking gifted leather cutters, welt stitchers, patina specialists, and client relationship managers to join our growing workshop in Kubwa, Abuja.
