Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about purchasing, commissioning, replicating, and restoring handmade footwear with MLAZ Limited in Abuja.
Sizing & Fit
Q:How do MLAZ shoe sizes compare to standard footwear?
Our footwear uses standard European (EU) sizing calibrated on classic English dress lasts. For example, if you typically wear an EU 43 in dress shoes, our EU 43 will fit you true to size. Please consult our Sizing Guide on any product page or custom wizard.
Q:What if I have wide feet, high arches, or bunions?
This is one of the greatest advantages of our bespoke workshop. During custom orders, you can submit your foot length and ball width in centimetres, as well as arch type and special notes. Our cordwainers will shape your lasts specifically to accommodate your anatomical requirements.
Q:Do you offer size exchanges if a ready-to-wear pair doesn't fit?
Yes. For unworn ready-to-wear shoes tested on carpeted floors, we provide complimentary size exchange within 7 days of delivery across Nigeria.
Bespoke Footwear & Replications
Q:How long does a bespoke pair take to craft?
Because each pair is hand-lasted over 72 hours, hand-welted, and finished with layered patinas, bespoke commissions typically require 7 to 14 business days from confirmation of deposit.
Q:Can you replicate any shoe from a photo?
We can replicate almost any classic or luxury silhouette (Oxfords, Loafers, Chelsea boots, Monkstraps, and Sandals). However, we respect intellectual property rights and will not copy trademarked logos, counterfeited emblems, or patented designer hardware.
Q:How does payment work for custom orders?
When you submit a custom brief, a preliminary pro forma invoice is generated. Once our workshop confirms material availability, a 70% crafting deposit is settled, with the 30% balance payable upon quality completion prior to dispatch.
Shoe Repairs & Restoration
Q:What types of shoes do you repair?
Our workshop repairs all quality leather footwear, whether made by MLAZ Limited or international makers (e.g. Church's, Ferragamo, Santoni, Allen Edmonds, Loake). We handle full sole replacements (leather & Vibram), heel rebuilds, upper stitching, and deep patina restoration.
Q:Can I send shoes for repair from outside Abuja?
Yes. Many of our repair clients are in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kano, and other states. You can log the repair request online, receive your docket number, and dispatch the shoes to our Kubwa, Abuja workshop via any reliable courier (DHL, GIG, FedEx).
Q:Is the repair price quoted online guaranteed?
Online repair estimates provide a transparent baseline based on your selected services. However, internal structural integrity (e.g. cracked welt or broken steel shank) can only be confirmed upon physical workshop inspection. We always confirm final pricing before beginning work.
Shipping & Payment Across Nigeria
Q:How much is delivery?
Abuja Central delivery is ₦3,500 (same-day or next-day). Greater Abuja is ₦4,500. Abuja workshop pickup is free. Lagos and Port Harcourt express air courier is ₦7,500 (2–3 days). Interstate courier across all other 34 states is ₦6,500.
